Loyalty and reward

No kingdom, family, or organization can survive without glue of loyalty. Two soul rested today. APJ Kalam and Yakub Menon. Both made missiles. Kalam made it for me. So we loved and respected him. Yakub made it for others. We punished him. Kalam had Indian secrets and Yakub for them. Both secrets were same and to be used for mass destruction. Respect for both soul was different for similar job. It may be possible at broader level , both may be treated same.

Indians have numerous examples of loyalty or disloyalty. We reward loyalty well and no one like disloyalty. Team loses objective, if even a single man betray. Entire planning may go haywire. At every level, team, organizations, countries are competing with each other. A single betrayal can make it zero. In loyalty , we share secrets. Secrets have power. It runs power centres. Each safety zone or comfort zone is protected by these secrets. So society rewards preserver and punishes destroyer.

Although we preach peace love or justice, we want punishment to disloyalty. Competing teams/organizations look for disloyal members reward them for time being. And then finish them. Disloyalty may tempt people for temporary rewards but in long run I hardly see people gaining by losing basic trait. At higher level, this switching is very common for quick gain. How much it is worthwhile, don’t know. It kills both organization and team.

Loyalty gives protection, safety, and comfort zone. In long run it becomes reason to kill the organization. So where is balance? Answer lies in loyal passion which can constantly challenge comfort zone. It is about knowing tiring team and side-lining tiring soldiers. Each organization needs loyal people and disloyal people of others to survive in power game. Only HR people can tell where to set balance in it. Do you have any comment on it? Is it fair to punishes disloyalty like ISIS ?
