Organizational EGO

There are two types of egos- individual and organizational. No EGO is good. It kills innovation. It creates POWER centers. Reduce organizational flexibility. Any new idea will hit a new power regime.

Organization fails to realize opportunities and risk. Bureaucracy takes over.  Microsoft was big example. Despite having huge money, they failed to create facebook, whatsapp, twitter etc. Their hired best brain but did not allow them freedom to innovate. In an ego-less company, people debate the ideas irrespective of where it came from.

It it irony that bigger the organization, it is difficult to manage without power centers. You need them to run the show. Business can’t survive on unlimited freedom. Then what is the solution of it.?  Power is hidden requirement to run a system.Control can;t come without it. But problem comes when power centers work in different directions. Organizational goal goes to toss. In Hindu mythology , there is famous saying, " Ego toh ravan ka bhi nahi raha" _ (Even the deadliest was killed by EGO)

With high organizational ego, Idea of powerful is the best idea. No one can question it. Meetings may be many but outcome power centers decide. In Organization with high ego, jealousy, revenge, or leg pulling remain hidden at the name of team work.

Best solution of this situation is balance. Balance between innovation and power control. Disruptive innovation or disruptive power centers on frequent basis. More change agents in system than power centers. Let both find a balance. This will reduce the organizational ego or walls. What is your view?
